Hometown: Wilmington, DE
Interests: I am interested in medical devices, specifically electrophysiology. Outside of school I enjoy running, cooking, and days at the lake!
Current Project: The Baby Bottle Project
Project Description: Many baby bottles that are on the market do not have a proper venting system. This causes the baby to suck harder on the bottle, which in turn may result in bubbles, discomfort and colic. In our research we are working with the Dru Feeding System to design a removable Teflon vent that will minimize pressure build up and allow for consistent milk flow through different bottle nipples, while being easy to use and clean.
Fun Fact: I ran my first half marathon in Greenville last semester!

Christopher Joiner
Freshman Biomedical Engineering Student Business Administration Minor
Hometown: Grafton, MA
Interests: I enjoy cooking, paddleboarding, exercising, and playing the piano.
Current Project: Baby Bottle Project
Project Description: Many baby bottles lack an effective venting system, which allows negative pressure to build up inside the bottle as the baby feeds. This forces the baby to exert more effort to extract milk, often leading to aerophagia, which in turn causes discomfort, gas, colic, and in some cases, bottle refusal. Together with Dru Feeding System™, our goal is to design an easy-to-clean ventilation system that minimizes negative pressure buildup and maintains the integrity and advantageousness of the Dru Feeding System™ nipples.
Fun Fact: My favorite condiment is ranch.
